1. Senator Sani Writes Doctors, Says El-Rufai Needs Psychiatric Test

Senator Shehu Sani (APC-Kaduna Central) has written to doctors calling for clinical examination of the mental state of Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state. In a letter dated 7th May, addressed to the Chief Medical Director of Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Kaduna, the lawmaker wondered why a governor, who is the Chief Security officer of the state, asked the people to go on riot for political reasons.

2. Court Returns Suspended Omo-Agege To Senate


Senator Omo-Agege’s suspension by the Senate was on Thursday described as unconstitutional and, therefore, nullified by the Federal High Court in Abuja. In his ruling, Justice Nnamdi Dimgba held that while the National Assembly had the power to discipline its erring members, the premise on which the Delta Central Senator was suspended was illegal.

3. Senate Appeals Nullification Of Omo-Agege’s Suspension

The Senate has appealed the Federal High Court Abuja’s nullification of the suspension of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege on Thursday. The Senate and the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki who is the second defendant in the case, also filed for a stay of execution of the nullification of the suspension.

4. Omo-Agege Says Court Verdict Victory For Democracy

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege (APC-Delta Central) has described a High Court judgment that nullified his suspension by the Senate as a victory for democracy. Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court gave the ruling nullifying the suspension on Thursday.

5. Senate Issues New Summons To IGP Over Killings

The Senate has issued a fresh summons to the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to appear before it and explain what the police are doing over killings in parts of Nigeria. The Senate made this known on Thursday.

6. Falana Reveals Why Senate Cannot Summon IGP Idris

Senior Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, has withdrawn from the Ekiti State governorship race. Ojudu was one of the aspirants in the inconclusive All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in the state.

8. Nigerian Diplomat Found Dead At Home In Sudan

A Nigerian diplomat was found dead on Thursday at his home in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, two security sources said. They said Police were investigating the incident but provided no details on how he died.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has announced that the Coalition for Nigeria Movement has adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to realise its dream of a new Nigeria. The former president stated this when addressing newsmen at his presidential library in Abeokuta.

11. Court To Rule On Dino Melaye’s Bail Application May 16

Justice Nasir Ajana, the trial judge in the bail application of the Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, has set judgement for 16th May, 2018. He adjourned after listening to arguments from both the prosecuting counsel, Dr. Alex Iziyon (SAN) and the defense counsel, Mike Ozekhome (SAN).

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has said the Federal Government has stepped up efforts at major international airports in the county to combat the spread of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD). General Manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, Henrietta Yakubu made this known in a statement on Thursday.
