1. Okorocha Obtains Court Injunction To Halt Imo Congress

An Owerri Federal High Court has mandated the All Progressives Congress (APC) to halt Saturday’s state congress in Imo. According to the court, the party is not allowed to hold congress in the southwest state pending the determination of a suit filed by Barrister Mbagwu Augustine and four others against the APC and 10 others.

2. Murder Suspects Allegedly Finger Saraki, Gov. Abdulfattah As Sponsors

The murder suspects arrested by the Kwara State Police Command in Ilorin and transported to Abuja have reportedly named Senate President Bukola Saraki and Governor Abdulfattah Ahmed as their sponsors. This was contained in the confessional statement made by the suspects, according to SaharaReporters. The suspects reportedly confessed to have been on the payroll of the Kwara government and Mandate Office of Saraki.

3. Pompeo Calls Buhari, Commends Nigeria-U.S. Relations


The Presidency on Friday stated that the U.S. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the current level of relationship between Nigeria and the United States. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, revealed this on Friday. Shehu said Pompeo gave the commendation when Buhari received a telephone call from him on Thursday.


4. AMCON Seizes Oduah’s Properties Over N20bn Debt

The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) has taken over Sea Petroleum Oil & Gas Ltd and other assets belonging to Senator Stella Oduah over a debt of about N20bn. AMCON said the takeover followed an injunction granted by Justice M.S. Hassan of the Federal High Court, Lagos, against the Sea Petroleum Oil & Gas Ltd.


5. Nigeria Emerges Head Of 19-member Anti-corruption Group

Nigeria, represented by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has been appointed the new Chairman of Heads of Anti-Corruption Agencies in Commonwealth Africa, comprising 19 countries. The appointment was announced at the 8th Regional Conference of the body which ended in Abuja on Friday.

6. APC Cancels Ward, LG Congresses In Rivers

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has cancelled its ward and local government congresses in Rivers state. National Chairman of the party John Odigie-Oyegun, who revealed this on Friday in a statement, said it cancelled the congresses following complaints from some leaders of the party in the state.

7. Northern Elders Back Bafarawa For Presidency In 2019

Some northern elders in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have called on former Governor of Sokoto Attahiru Bafarawa to contest for the 2019 presidential election. A PDP youth leader from the Northwest told The Guardian that Bafarawa was urged to contest on the party’s platform, as the elders considered him the only trustworthy politician who can match President Muhammadu Buhari in the region.

8. PDP Slams Aregbesola Over Bad Debt Loan

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has accused Governor Rauf Aregbesola of mortgaging the future of the state through huge loan due for repayment till 2042. Chairman of the party, Soji Adagunodo, in a press statement on Friday, challenged Aregbesola to explain to the people of the state how he spent N172billion loan due for repayment between the year 2034 and 2042.

11. Ten Killed In Texas School Shooting As Police Arrest Shooter

Ten people were killed and at least 10 injured when a student armed with a shotgun and a revolver opened fire at his Texas high school on Friday, officials said, in the latest deadly school shooting in the United States. The gunman, who was taken into custody on murder charges, was identified as Dimitrios Pagourtzis, a 17-year-old junior at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, Texas.
