1. PDP Accuses FG Of Clampdown On Opposition

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress-led federal government of commencing a direct clampdown of major opposition leaders in the country. The party also alleged that the government was going after perceived political opponents as well as individuals with interests and views that were divergent to those of President Muhammadu Buhari, ahead of the 2019 general election.

2. APC Won’t Recognise Parallel Congresses – Abdullahi

National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bolaji Abdullahi, says the party will not recognise any parallel state congress organised by any factional group of the party in the country. Abdullahi stated this on Saturday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, during the party’s state congress.

3. Falana Disagrees With Police On Kwara Suspects’ Transfer


(SAN) has disagreed on an order by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, for the transfer of suspects arrested in Kwara State over allegations of murder and criminal conspiracy. The lawyer made his positions known in an interview on Friday.

4. Fashola Assures Quick Completion Of Second Niger Bridge

The Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has said that the federal government has put in place workable funding mechanism to ensure completion of the Second Niger Bridge. Fashola gave the assurance on Saturday when he visited the site of the project at Oko near Asaba in Delta state.

Buhari, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, joined family members, friends and professional colleagues of the cerebral lawyer in celebrating the milestone.

The Kano police command has debunked reports that it has launched investigation and threatened to arrest bloggers over a video of Inspector General of police, Ibrahim Idris, stuttering while reading his speech. A press statement by the Kano Commissioner of police, Rabiu Yusuf, described the story as “false and an act by mischief makers.”

7. Fayemi Accuses Fayose Of Planning To Attack Oni’s Supporters

The Kayode Fayemi Campaign Office says it has uncovered a plan by Governor Ayodele Fayose and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to attack supporters and associates of former Governor Segun Oni. It said the plot was to use thugs who would pretend to be working for Dr Kayode Fayemi, the Minister of Mines and Steel Development and Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the July 14 gubernatorial election in Ekiti.

8. Fayose Denies Alleged Plan To Attack Oni’s Supporters

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has denied the allegation made by the Kayode Fayemi Campaign Office that the he plans to attack supporters and associates of former Governor Segun Oni. The governor on Saturday described such allegation “as false and should be ignored.”
