Head of the defunct National Electoral Commission Prof. Humphrey Nwosu will not be attending the posthumous investiture of Moshood Abiola as the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic. Abiola was on 6 June handed the award by President Muhammadu Buhari with June 12 also penned as Nigeria’s Democracy Day. President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday evening returned to Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, after an official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco. The Nigerian leader met with King Mohammed VI at a meeting in Rabat, where both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to fostering deeper bilateral cooperation. To this end, Nigeria and Morocco signed an agreement on gas transportation to the North African kingdom along the Atlantic coast.

The suspects who indicted Senator Dino Melaye told a Senior Magistrate Court in Lokoja on Monday that the allegations against them are false. Kabiru Seidu, 31, aka “Osama” and Nuhu Salihu, 25, aka “Small” were arraigned alongside the senator representing Kogi West. They implicated Melaye in the allegations of criminal conspiracy, illegal possession of firearms and illegal arms dealing.
