1. Taking EFCC, Oshiomhole To Court Over Corruption Not Political – Cleric

An Edo based cleric and human rights activist, Bishop Osadolor Anthony Ochie, has said his decision to dragged former Edo Governor Adams Oshiomhole, to court over an alleged corruption was not based on politics. The clergyman also sued the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for refusing to investigate the former governor over corruption.

2. Tompolo Clarifies Rumours About Him Joining APC


Former militant leader Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo has reiterated that he is not a politician and does not belong to any political party. Tompolo’s statement comes as a reaction to rumours that he is set to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

3. National Awards Meant To Promote Kingibe’s Presidential Candidacy – Musa

A Former governor of Kaduna State Balarabe Musa, has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari gave a posthumous award to M.K.O Abiola and recognized June 12 as Democracy Day in other to promote the presidential candidacy of Babagana Kingibe. Speaking to newsmen, the elder statesman claimed that the plot started in 2017 when there were fears that Buhari ’s health challenge will impede his second term bid.

4. PDP Wins All 23 Chairmanship Seats In Rivers State Local Government Election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won all the 23 chairmanship positions contested on Saturday in the Rivers State Local Government elections conducted by Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC). Chairman of RSIEC, Justice Chukwunenye Uriri (retd), who declared the results around 8p.m., on Sunday, noted that the exercise was free and fair, adding that there was no report of violence during the elections.

5. Wike Swears-In 23 Newly Elected Council Chairmen

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has sworn-in the 23 Local Government Council Chairmen elected during the June 16, 2018 Local Government Elections conducted by the RSIEC. Performing the swearing-in at the Executive Council Chambers on Monday, Governor Wike charged the council chairmen to prioritise payment of salaries, promotion of security and environmental sanitation.

6. Fani Kayode Reacts To Sentencing Of Christians For Killing Herdsman

Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has condemned an order by a court in Adamawa sentencing five Christians to death by hanging for killing Fulani herdsman. He maintained that the christian convicts were defending themselves against ‘Fulani terrorist.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Monday commenced aerial bombardments of bandits’ hideouts in Zamfara State. The Commander of the 207 Quick Response Group of NAF, Group Capt. Caleb Olayera, disclosed this to journalists in Gusau.

At least 1500 Nigerians are serving jail terms for various offences in Italy, Italian Ambassador to Nigeria, Stefanou Pontesilli, has revealed. ”In Italy we have about 1500 Nigerians in jail for various offences. It is a big number,” Pontesilli told journalists in Abuja.

In a statement on Monday by his media aide, Niyi Ojo, the former PDP chieftain expressed sadness over the killing of an APC member, William Ayegoro.

11. Union Homes Drags Stella Oduah To Court Over N385m Debt

Another creditor Union Homes Savings and Loans plc, has come knocking at Senator Stella Oduah’s doors, demanding the repayment of N385 million mortgage debt. The mortgage lender’s lawyer Ken Ahia has filed an application before a Federal high court seeking to join as an intervener in the on going debt recovery suit filed against the Senator and her company Sea Petroleum Oil and Gas Group limited.

12. Mexico Face Fifa Action Over ‘Homophobic’ Chants

Fifa said Monday it had opened disciplinary proceedings against Mexico after supporters allegedly shouted a homophobic slur during the World Cup match against Germany. The world football body gave no details of the nature of the insults but media reports said Mexican fans aimed the shouts at Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium.
