President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday signed Nigeria’s 2018 Appropriation Bill into law, seven months after proposing it to the National Assembly. He had submitted a budget proposal of N8.612 trillion to the federal lawmakers on 7 November, 2017.

The Nigerian military has confirmed reports that ISIS has been sending its members to Nigeria to train Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) members. The Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General John Agim, in a statement on Wednesday said: “it is pertinent to state categorically that there is concrete evidence on the ground to back their claim.”

Professor Richard Akindele, the lecturer who demanded to be intimate with his student Monica Osagie has been sacked by the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife. This was announced by the Vice Chancellor during a press conference in Ife on Wednesday. He said the Governing Council sacked the lecturer having found him guilty of all the charges against him.

6. US Deports 34 Nigerians

No fewer than 34 Nigerians were on Wednesday deported from the United States of America for allegedly committing offences in the country. The deportees arrived at the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMlA), Lagos at about 2.30 p.m.

The Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State Austin Iwar has said the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) also known as Shiite attempted to bomb some parts the state. In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer ASP Muhktar Aliyu, the command insisted that the IMN is not a legal organisation in the state.

The Federal House of Representatives has told President Muhammadu Buhari that the National Assembly has the constitutional power to alter the 2018 budget. In a statement on Wednesday, the Chairman, House Committee on Media said the budget is usually a proposal by the Executive to the National Assembly, which the latter is given the constitutional power of appropriation to alter, make additions, costs or reduce.

9. Rats Destroy N17 Million Banknotes In ATM

Rats in Assam, India, have been fingered for eating banknotes in an ATM machine worth about 1.2m rupees, approximately N17 million. Technician were said to have seen the shredded banknotes and destroyed money when they arrived to fix the malfunctioning machine.

Speaking to newsmen in Saint Petersburg, Russia, Akinwunmi expressed optimism that the German will qualify the team for the knockout stages.
