1. Those Asking For Restructuring Have Personal Agenda, Says Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to address reported cases of illegal sale of land donated to the Nigeria Army by communities across Nigeria even as he suggested that those clamouring for the restructuring of Nigeria have ulterior motive. He made this known when he received traditional rulers and opinion leaders from the Urhobo Progress Union at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Monday. The President said the alleged sale of the donated land meant for the military authorities across the country would not be tolerated.

2. Osinbajo Visits Plateau After Bloody Herdsmen Attacks

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo visited Plateau state on Monday to condole with the people and government of the state, after the attacks claimed over 80 lives over the weekend. Osinbajo arrived at the Jos Airport in the evening and was received by Governor Simon Lalong and other government officials. It was gathered that discussion on how to ensure that peace returns to the troubled areas was held.

The United States has condemned the killing of at least 86 persons in Plateau state by suspected Fulani herdsmen. Spokesperson for the US Department of State, Heather Nauert, said the perpetrators of the attacks should be brought to justice.

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Monday granted bail to the co-defendants of the missing leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. Trial judge, Justice Binta Nyako, had earlier on 20 February, 2018, ordered the separation of Kanu’s trial from that of the rest of his co-defendants, as the IPOB leader’s absence from court continued to halt progress in the case.

8. Woman Throws Baby Into Pit Toilet In Ogun

A 21-year-old woman Amudalat Taiwo has been arrested for throwing her 12-day-old baby into a pit toilet in Ilaro area of Ogun state. Taiwo was nabbed after a complaint from her landlord, Oshunshina Olawale, according to spokesman for the police in the southwest state, Abimbola Oyeyemi. He said the landlord reported that one of his tenants on 28, Isheri Street, Ilaro, woke up early on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, and went to the toilet to relieve herself and later, the cry of a baby was heard inside the pit toilet.

9. D’banj, Wife To Face Questioning Over Son’s Death

Singer D’banj and his wife would make a formal report on the circumstances surrounding the death of their son, according to the Nigeria Police. D’banj lost his only son, Daniel Oyebanjo, in a swimming pool inside the singer’s Lagos home on Sunday. Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, said  this in a statement on Monday where he also condoled with the star over the incident.

10. ‘No Mercy’ For Messi, Eagles Coach Vows

Super Eagles  coach Gernot Rohr has said his team will show “no mercy” to Lionel Messi as the team face Argentina in a 2018 World Cup game on Tuesday. Nigeria must avoid defeat to the South Americans, who need a win, to progress to the next stage. Rohr has said even though he admires the Barcelona star, there would be no room for complacency.
