[Sport News] Super Eagles Head Coach Gernot Rohr >> How Nigeria Will Qualify From W/Cup Group.
Super Eagles Head Coach Gernot Rohr has said his team must beat Iceland in their next game at the 2018 World Cup if they stand a chance of making it to the next phase.
The West Africans lost 0-2 to Croatia on Saturday in their opening clash at the competition.
While speaking on his side’s chances of making it to the next round after the poor start, the German said “nothing is lost and all is in our hands.”
According to the former Niger Republic gaffer, “Everything is possible in football. It’s important to make at least four points if you want to qualify.
“We are only a point behind for the moment, nothing is lost and all is in our hands. Let’s be positive, we have the youngest team at the World Cup, let them learn and try to do better.”
In addition, he said: “We saw Iceland have a good game against Argentina, a very strong team, but we can also do better than what we did today (Saturday).
“We have to win against Iceland but all is possible still. If we win the next game all is possible for qualification.”
Nigeria are at the foot of the Group D standing with no point and a two-goal deficit. The three-time African champions will take on Iceland in their second game on Friday.
