1. Another Buhari’s Minister In NYSC Certificate Scandal

Communications Minister Adebayo Shittu did not take part in the compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) upon his graduation. This revelation comes barely one week after Kemi Adeosun resigned her position as the Finance Minister over an alleged forgery of her NYSC exemption certificate.

2. NLC To Commence Nationwide Strike September 26

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) says its members will commence nationwide industrial action alongside civil society organisations on Wednesday, September 26, except the tripartite committee completes its assignment on the new minimum wage.

3. PDP BoT Split Over Support For Presidential Aspirants

All may not be well among the members of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over their support for the party’s presidential aspirants. It was learned that only three members of the BoT were in attendance on Thursday when at the inauguration of one of the presidential aspirants, who is also a former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, in Abuja.

4. Women Fear Husbands, Sons May Die As Army Searches For Missing General In Jos River

The Nigerian army has commenced the evacuation of water from a mining pond at Dura, Du District, Jos South, in search of Idris Alkali, a missing retired Major General. But women in the area have protested the action, claiming that their husbands and sons could die if the army emptied the pond. Alkali, the immediate past Chief of Administration, Army Headquarters, was declared missing on 3 September.

5. Police Uncover $470.5m, N8bn NNPC Funds

The police have uncovered $470.5m belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s Brass Liquefied Natural Gas. Concise News gathered that the fund was hidden in commercial banks, a contravention of the Federal Government directive on the Treasury Single Account. In addition, police said there was another N8.8bn belonging to the NNPC/LNG that was also not remitted to the account.

6. Buhari Never Met With New DSS DG Before Appointing Him?

President Muhammadu Buhari appeared to have met with the newly appointed Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi, for the first time on Thursday. Concise News understands that when Bichi was ushered into the President’s office by protocol officials, he was asked by the President if they had met before. It was learned that the new DSS boss said he was seeing the President for the first time in his life, before the two men went into a closed-door meeting.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, on Thursday submitted his nomination and expression of interest forms at the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja. The forms are to enable him to contest the 2019 House of Representatives election for Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa Balewa federal constituency in Bauchi State.

8. Buhari Re-Appoints Amaechi Campaign DG For 2019 Elections

President Muhammadu Buhari has named the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as the Director-General of his campaign organisation for his second term bid in 2019. The President made the announcement in a statement issued on Thursday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

9. PDP Calls For Sirika’s Arrest Over Suspended Nigeria Air

Minister of State for Aviation Hadi Sirika should resign for allegedly defrauding Nigerians as regards the suspended Nigeria Air project, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said.  Sirika had on Wednesday announced the suspension of the Nigeria Air project, two months that it was launched. And in a statement on Thursday, the PDP alleged that the minister used a non-existent national carrier to defraud Nigeria to the tune of N1.2 billion.

10. Pinnick Reacts To Re-election As NFF President

The President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick has said he would reconcile people who lost at the 2018 NFF Elective Congress. Concise News reported that Pinnick was re-elected on Thursday in Katsina, becoming the first head of the football house to achieve this feat. He noted that there was neither winner nor vanquished in the election as all must work together for the benefit of football in the country.
