1. Army Finds Missing General’s Vehicle In Plateau Pond

The Nigerian army has found the vehicle belonging to Idris Alkali, a retired major general who has been missing for weeks. The Army announced the discovery on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Saturday evening. According to a tweet by the Army, the black Corolla with plate number MUN-670AA was found in a pond in Lafendeg Du community in Jos South local government area, Plateau state, northern Nigeria.

2. More Trouble For Ambode As 36 Lawmakers Back Sanwo-Olu Ahead Of Primary


Thirty six of the 40 members of the state House of Assembly have pulled their support behind the governorship ambition of Babajide Sanwo-Olu ahead of Sunday’s governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos. Sanwo-Olu is gunning for the governorship ticket of the party with the incumbent governor, Akinwunmi Ambode. A statement by Musbau Rasaq, media aide to the House Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, said the decision was taken after a parliamentary meeting held on Saturday.

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, has highlighted the agreement of APC with the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party in the Osun State governorship election, Sen. Iyiola Omisore. Giving the explanation at a press conference in Abuja on Friday, Oshiomhole said that there would not be automatic Senatorial ticket for Omisore in APC. He said that, perhaps, the PDP forgot that Omisore had served as a deputy governor to Bisi Akande, the pioneer interim national chairman of the APC before the then PDP government “rigged them out of office.

4. Hamzat Steps Down For Sanwo-Olu In Lagos APC Guber Primary

One of the governorship aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos, Femi Hamzat, has withdrawn from the race. Speaking to the press in Lagos on Saturday, Hamzat said he took the decision to support the ambition of another aspirant, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. He, therefore, directed his supporters to cast their votes for Sanwo-Olu during the party’s primary on Sunday (tomorrow).

5. Mama Taraba, Seven APC Lawmakers Defect To UDP

Former Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development Aisha Alhassan has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the United Democratic Party (UDP). On Saturday, she withdrew her membership from the APC and also resigned her appointment from President Muhammadu Buhari’s government. Making her new party on Twitter, Alhassan said she left the APC with all local government party leaders as well as seven state lawmakers.

6. APC Postpones Lagos, Imo Governorship Primaries

The All Progressives Congress has announced that the governorship primaries for Lagos and Imo States have been shifted to Monday. National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole who made the announcement said it was being postponed for logistic reasons. The party had earlier fixed its governorship primaries nationwide on Saturday and later postponed it to Sunday.

7. PDP Postpones Guber Primaries in Lagos, Kano, Imo Indefinitely

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has postponed the party’s governorship primaries in Lagos, Imo and Kano state indefinitely. PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, made this known in a statement on Saturday. The opposition party, however, said the primary elections will take place on Sunday in other states.

The Presidency on Saturday reacted to the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary across the country, which endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for re-election. A statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and publicity, Garba Shehu, said the successful ouctome of the pimary is an indication of what will happen during the 2019 presidential election.

In an emotional interaction with journalists, Leah’s mother who spoke in Hausa, said the appeal was urgent as Boko Haram had threatened to kill Leah if the group’s demands are not met.

President Muhammadu Buhari has sympathised with the government and people of Indonesia over the latest Tsunami and earthquake that hit the country’s Central Sulawesi Island. In a statement by his media aide Garba Shehu, on Saturday, the President said the natural disaster, which claimed nearly 400 lives, was devastating beyond description.
