We shall be bringing to you live reports across Osun as eager electorates troop out today September 22 to elect a successor to Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

This thread is open to everybody in Osun State who is participating in one way or another during the election. Voters, observers, officials are encouraged to use the comment form below to report activities at the various polling unit and collation centres.

Live reports from Osun state:
2:07pm:  Fuwape said that the number of votes in places where election was cancelled prevented the commission from declaring Ademola Adeleke of the PDP the winner.
2:00pm: As a result, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the 2018 Osun state governorship election inconclusive.
1:50pm: INEC says some votes were cancelled. As such, the total number of votes got by the PDP is now 254,698.
1:25pm: The waiting is over. INEC is set to declare the outcome of the 2018 Osun state governorship election.
12:00pm: INEC is till collating the final results. Meanwhile, let’s inform you that based on the results from the 30 LGAs, Adeleke polled a sum of 255,698 votes, while his nearest challenger, the ruling APC’s Gboyega Oyetola, received 254,345 votes.
11:00am: From all the results announced, the PDP candidate, Ademola Adeleke, appears to have won the election. However, the electoral body, INEC, is in the final stage of the election process and getting set to officially declare the outcome.
10:30am: Police have a man accused of tearing election result sheets at a polling unit in Ayedaade Local Government area. Concise News understands that he was brought to the INEC office on Sunday morning.

9:05pm: Electorates have accused some PDP and APC agents of refusing to pay those who had cast their ballots for the agents’ candidates. According to reports, the voters lamented that the agents ran away after finding out that their parties had lost.
6:30pm: INEC, some hours ago, warned against release of false results from the Osun governorship election. The election umpire reiterated that only its officials, that is Returning Officers, are backed by law to do so.
6:00pm: Busted for vote buying. Three men are clearly in trouble here. Police have arrested three suspects for vote buying during today’s election. The suspects are Muriat Olalekan, 61, Hamzat Muniru, 65 and Adeagbo Wasiu.
5:00 pm: Early results trickling in from most polling units are suggesting that the final election result in the 2018 Osun gubernatorial poll will be very tight. See some of such results here.
3:20 pm: Voting has officially ended in the Osun State Governorship election with only those on the line as at 2 pm expected to vote beyond the time. Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are now sorting and counting the ballots at the polling units.
2:05 pm: Agents of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have been reportedly caught on camera inducing voters by buying their votes in the ongoing governorship election in Osun state, southwest Nigeria.




1:08 pm: An agent of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that almost all political parties were involved in vote-buying in Ede, Osun State.

12:15 pm: The candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the ongoing Osun State governorship election Gboyega Oyetola, says he will win the election because he has laboured so hard. Oyetola said this shortly after casting his vote at Ward 1, Unit 2 in Iragbiji, Boripe Local Government Area of the state.
12:06 pm: Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State on Saturday voted in the ongoing state governorship election. While casting his vote in his hometown in Ilesa, the governor expressed happiness with the peaceful nature of the election, describing it as a festival of democracy.

11:45 am: An agent of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been arrested by security operatives for allegedly attempting to buy votes in the ongoing governorship election in Osun State, southwest Nigeria. Read more.
11:30 am: The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Osun governorship election, Fatai Akinbade, has voted in the ongoing election. The ADC candidate voted at 10:35 am at Ward 3, Unit 123, Ogbagba, Ola-Oluwa Local Government Area in Osun State.

10:00 am: The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Osun State governorship election Isiaka Oyetola has voted in the ongoing election.

9:40 am: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the Osun State governorship election, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has said he would emerge the winnerof the election. Speaking to journalist after casting his vote on Saturday, he described various allegations against him as false.

8:45am: INEC officials are sensitising electorates at ward 4 in Ifelodun local government area of the state. There is presence of policemen, NSCDC personnel and soldiers on ground here.

8:32am: At Ward 4 in Osogbo local government area, there’s a large turnout of voters and electoral personnel are present and setting up voting materials.

8:30am: As at 7:20, electorates, including many women, had already gathered at Ota Efun area, waiting for INEC officials to begin the voting process.
8:10am: Reports from Ife Central say INEC officials are taking out the posters of candidates at a polling unit in ward 1. There’s a high turnout of voters, and policemen are on ground.
8:02am: Accreditation and voting commenced exactly at 8:00am at polling unit 004 in Osogbo.



8:00am: In the Oriade local government area, security agents have arrived at the Ipetu Ijesa Ward 10 and INEC officials are seen getting set to begin the voting process.

7:50am: At Ede south Alajue 1, Ward 4 Polling Unit 8, electoral officials have arrived, preparing for the election.

7:45am: The Independent National Electoral Commission appears not to be taking anything for granted as the commission has released a contact line, 0908-4444-333, for reporting of any act of vote-buying.

5:40am: Meanwhile, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked why did the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, not withdraw policemen attached to Governor Rauf Aregbesola as he did to Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, before the conduct of the Ekiti governorship election.
5:30am: The Osun state Resident Electoral Commission, Olusegun Agbaje, on Friday cautioned politicians against misinterpreting its electoral rules for their selfish aims.
