1. Ambode Concedes Defeat, Promises To Work For Smooth Transition

The governor of Lagos state Akinwunmi Ambode has accepted his loss of the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party. Governor Ambode, who conceded defeat on Wednesday afternoon, promised to work for a smooth transition.



2. At Last, Buhari Calls Leah Sharibu’s Mother


President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday called Mrs Rebecca Sharibu, mother of the Dapchi schoolgirl, Leah, who was kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists. Buhari said he assured the mother that his heart was with her family, like that of the entire nation, which continues to pray for the safe return of Leah.

3. Buhari To Name Campaign Council After APC Convention


President Buhari has said he will release the name of his Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) which will be in charge of the APC victory in the 2019 general elections. In a statement on Wednesday, the president said he is aware of the request of Nigerians for the formation of a full Presidential Campaign Council towards the general elections.

A faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has expelled Ovie Omo-Agege, the senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly. The APC faction led by Cyril Abeye Ogodo took the decision during an emergency meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC ) on Wednesday.

5. Gulak Reveals Gov. Rochas Ordered Kidnap Of Imo APC Electoral Committee Members

The chairman of the APC primary election committee in Imo state, southeast Nigeria, Ahmed Gulak, has alleged that the state governor, Rochas Okorocha ordered the abduction of nine members of the committee. Gulak had said he escaped being kidnapped in the state, noting that while he was lucky to escape, nine members of his panel were abducted on the orders of the governor.

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has called for the arrest of the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election committee in the state, Ahmed Gulak. A serving Senator, Hope Uzondima and Okorocha’s son-in-law, Uche Nwosu were announced as winners in the primary election in the state.

8. FG Denies Plan To Hike Universities Tuition To N350,000

The Federal Government has debunked reports that it had approved the hike in tuition fees of Nigerian universities to N350,000. The coordinator of the Ibadan zone of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dr Ade Adejumo, has accused the government of plotting to make students of federal universities pay a minimum of N350,000 as tuition fee.

9. Caf Confed. Cup: Enyimba In Trouble

Enyimba’s chances of reaching the final of the Caf Confederation Cup hang by a thread after the two-time African champions lost 1-0 at home to Raja Casablanca on Wednesday. Abdelilah Hafidi’s second-half strike was all the Moroccan side needed to put themselves in a strong position to reach the final.
10. Aston Villa Sack Coach Steve Bruce.
English Championship side Aston Villa has officially confirmed the Sack of Coach Steve Bruce.  The club made this known in a statement released on its Twitter handle on Wednesday by its Chief Executive, Christian Purslow. 

The club explained that Villa decided to sack the 57-year-old because of the club’s poor start to the new season. 

The Villans have won only once in their last 10 matches under Bruce, with fans demanding for his sack.
