1. More Trouble Awaits Dino Melaye As INEC Begins Recall Process Saturday

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Wednesday announced it will begin signature verification for the recall of Senator Dino Melaye (APC-Kogi West) on Saturday. Over 52.3% of registered voters in the Kogi West Senatorial district signed the petition to recall Senator Melaye. The verification exercise would take place in the seven local government areas that make up Kogi West senatorial district.

2. Senate President Saraki, Other Senators Visit Dino Melaye At Ntn’l Hospital

Senate President Bukola Saraki and some Senators on Wednesday visited Senator Dino Melaye at the National Hospital in Abuja. The convoy arrived at the facility at 1:33pm, and the lawmakers met with the management of the hospital ahead of a visit to Melaye’s ward.

3. Dino Melaye In Intensive Care Unit At Ntn’l Hospital

Senator Representing Kogi West Senatorial district in the National Assembly, Dino Melaye, has disclosed that he is currently at the Intensive Care Unit of the National Hospital, Abuja. In a post on his Twitter page on Wednesday evening, the embattled lawmaker also revealed that his brothers alongside other loyalist are still in Police custody.

The Senate on Thursday described as inhuman the treatment of Senator Dino Melaye by operatives of the Nigeria Police. To this end, the upper legislative chambers summoned the ‎Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to appear before the lawmakers on Thursday to explain the arrest.

Nigeria’s army chief Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has assured that its panel will make public the findings of its investigations into the allegations levelled against it by retired Gen. T.Y. Danjuma. The panel, led by Maj.-Gen. John Nimyel, submitted its report to Buratai on Wednesday.

Chinese scientists have concluded that North Korea’s nuclear test site has partially collapsed, potentially rendering it unusable. The test site at Punggye-ri has been used for six nuclear tests since 2006. After the last, in September, a series of aftershocks hit the site, which seismologists believe collapsed part of the mountain’s interior.
