1. Catholic Bishops Ask Buhari To Resign Over Killings

Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBNC) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign over the recent killings by suspected Fulani herdsmen in the country.

2. Atiku Vows To Restructure Nigeria In 6 Months

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said that he would restructure Nigeria in six months if he wins the presidential election in 2019. Abubakar said this on Wednesday in a question and answer session at the Chatham House in UK after delivering a lecture captioned: “The Importance of Strengthening State Economic Management Systems.”

3. Senators Call For Buhari’s Impeachment Over Aircraft Purchase

The Nigerian Senate is set to begin impeachment proceedings against President Muhammadu Buhari for failing to get its approval for the withdrawal of $496m from the Excess Crude Account to purchase military aircraft. Senator Mathew Uroghide, who moved a motion at the plenary on Thursday, specifically urged the Senate P‎resident, Bukola Saraki, to allow the chambers to invoke Section 143 of the Constitution.

4. Reps Back Down Moves To Impeach Buhari

The House of Representatives has resolved to step down moves to commence impeachment proceedings against President Buhari for approving the release of $496 million for the purchase of some fighter jets without consulting the National Assembly. At plenary on Thursday, the lawmakers reached a compromise and decided that rather than initiating impeachment proceedings against the president, the Committee on Rules and Business should look for a way to resolve the matter.

5. Again, Herdsmen Kill Seven In Another Benue Church Attack

Suspected armed herdsmen on Thursday entered a church in Logo Local Government Area of Benue state and allegedly killed seven people. The herdsmen were said to have invaded Mbamondo clan around 12.20am and attacked some displaced persons who had taken refuge at an African Church in the area and killed seven of them.

6. Sheriff Gets Rude Shock As APC Instructs Him To Register At Ward Level

The All Progressives Congress has asked a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Ali Modu-Sheriff to register at his ward if he wants to join the APC. Sheriff, Concise News learned, was billed to storm the party’s national headquarters in Abuja on Thursday to officially join them.

7. El-Zakzaky, Others Charged With Murder

The Kaduna State Government has charged the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shi’ites, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, and his wife, Zeenah, and two others with various offences including murder of a soldier. The allegedly murdered soldier, Corporal Yakuku Dankaduna, was said to be in the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, during the December 2015 bloody clash between Shi’ites and the soldiers in the convoy in Zaria, Kaduna State.

8. Buhari Endorsing Oshiomhole Won’t Stop Other Aspirants – APC

The Spokesperson of the APC, Bolaji Abdullahi, has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari’s endorsement of Adams Oshiomhole, for the position of party National Chairman would not stop other candidates from contesting. He made this known while speaking to newsmen after a close door meeting between party executives and Governors elected on its platform.

Former Presidential New Media aide Reno Omokri has advised the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to learn from the “persecution” of some APC lawmakers. Upon assuming as senate president, Bukola Saraki was tried by the federal government for false asset declaration.

10. IPOB Cautions FG Against Attacking Abaribe, Chidoka

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has warned the Federal Government against attacking Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe and ex-Minister of Aviation Osita Chidoka, over the roles they played in the release of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu. In a statement by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, IPOB said any attempt to victimise Abaribe and Chidoka would be resisted and would push them to react appropriately.

11. Ex-CIA Chief Pompeo Confirmed As US Secretary Of State

The US Senate has confirmed former CIA director Mike Pompeo as secretary of state, ending a tough confirmation battle. Pompeo had been accused by Democrats of being a war hawk and harbouring anti-Muslim and homophobic views. The Senate voted 57-42 to approve him as America’s top diplomat, the second of the Trump presidency.

12. 10-Man Athletico Snatch Late Draw At Arsenal

Arsenal were punished by 10-man Athletico Madrid after a late goal by Antoine Griezmann salvaged a draw for the Spanish side in the Europa League semi-final first leg at the Emirates. The visitors were on the back foot for almost the entire game after defender Sime Vrsaljko was dismissed for two yellow cards in the first 10 minutes.

Bill Cosby was convicted Thursday of sexual assault by a US jury, which found him guilty of drugging and molesting a university employee 14 years ago in the first celebrity trial of the #MeToo era. The frail and 80-year-old disgraced television star could now end up spending the rest of his life behind bars.
