1. Killings In Nigeria Worries Pope Francis
Pope Francis is deeply concerned about herdsmen killings in Benue and other parts of Nigeria, says the Metropolitan Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan. Onaiyekan made this known in an interview after Nigerian Catholic Bishops gave account of events within their dioceses in a visit of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBNC) to Rome. More than 19 persons, including two Catholic priests, Revd Frs Joseph Gor and Felix Tyolaha, were killed by suspected herdsmen in separate attacks on Gwer East and Guma areas of the state on Tuesday.
2. How Buhari ‘Reinforced’ Killings In Benue, Says Obasanjo Coalition
The Coalition for Nigeria Movement has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of igniting the attacks and killings by suspected herdsmen in Benue by visiting Bauchi. CNM thought Buhari’s visit to Bauchi less than 24 hours after several persons were killed in Benue was the height of insensitivity.

Lauretta Onochie, media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, has said Nigerians are happy that his principal is visiting US President Donald Trump. Buhari is already in the US where he would meet with Trump on Monday.
4. Tell Buhari To Free Our Members, IPOB Begs Trump
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has urged US President Donald Trump to pressurise President Muhammadu Buhari to release some members of the group in detention. Buhari is billed to meet with Trump on Monday at the White House and IPOB believes such time is great for Trump to help get their members released.
5. Forces Of Evil Will Never Triumph, Says Melaye After Failed Recall
Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye on Sunday thanked his constituents for rejecting attempts to recall him from the National Assembly, saying every lie has expiry date. Melaye, a member of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), is currently on admission at the National Hospital, Abuja. In a tweet, he appreciated people of his constituents for standing by him.
6. Soyinka Says Nigeria Drowning In Blood
Nobel laureate Professor Wole Soyinka has urged the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to take drastic steps to end the incessant attacks and killings by killer herdsmen in parts of Nigeria. Acknowledging that a few armed herdsmen have been arrested by security agencies, Soyinka, however, said that was not enough to put a stop to the killings.
7. Home Of Ohanaeze Leader Bombed
Explosion has rocked the country home of the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Nnia John Nwodo, at Ukehe in Enugu State. The explosion was said to have destroyed parts of the building, including the ceiling and windows.
8. Ekiti PDP Chieftain Kidnapped
The Financial Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti state, Kayode Oni, has been kidnapped. It was learned that Oni was abducted on Saturday between Efon-Erio Ekiti highway while returning to Aramoko Ekiti at about 4.20pm. Spokesman for the party in the state Jackson Adebayo told journalists that the party executive was returning from where he had gone to conduct the PDP Local Government congress in Efon.
9. Hoodlums Attack Kaduna Senator At Political Gathering
The Senator representing Kaduna North, Suleiman Hunkuyi, was on Sunday attacked by thugs during a political gathering of stakeholders and leaders of APC in Kaduna. Reports say Hunkuyi had convened the meeting to ask party faithful to resist a purported plan to impose candidates on them during the party’s congresses scheduled for May 5. But hoodlums were said to have stormed the venue of the meeting at ENDwell Hotel in the city center, throwing stones on the supporters chanting “Kaduna sai Uba Sani, Kaduna Sai El-Rufai in 2019.”
10. ‘Avengers’ Rakes In $250m In 1st Weekend
Avengers: Infinity War has raked in $250 million in its opening weekend, according to industry estimates made available on Sunday. The film, which features more than two dozen superheroes fighting to save the universe, displaced “The Force Awakens,” the seventh instalment in the long-running “Star Wars” space saga that made $248 million in its opening weekend in 2015.
11. More Worries For Rohr As Iwobi Suffers Hamstring Injury
Nigeria international and Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi sustained a hamstring injury in Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat by Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday. Iwobi’s injury will be a big blow for Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr as midfielder Wilfred Ndidi also picked up an injury in Leicester City’s 5-0 trashing by Crystal Palace on Saturday.
