1. Senate Team Set To Meet Buhari Today Over Saraki, IG Row

The Senate delegation will meet with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday (today) over an allegation by Senator Bukola Saraki against the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris. The Senate President, Saraki, had on Wednesday alleged that Idris planned to implicate him in the trial of some suspected cult members arrested in Kwara State.

The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu, on Monday, dismissed reports that he is plotting to contest for the position of governor of Borno state. Magu was reacting to a news item by an online medium entitled: “Exclusive: Buhari Holds Secret Talks With Sheriff To Push For EFCC Magu’s Guber Ambition.”

3. Police Arrest Two Offa Bank Robbery Prime Suspects

The Nigerian police on Monday said they had arrested two of the four prime suspects declared wanted in connection with the Offa bank Robbery in Kwara state last month. The development comes three weeks after the police circulated pictures of four suspects who were captured by closed-circuit camera of the banks that they attacked.

The US-based pastor accused Shehu of engaging in ‘transmission attack’ against the former First Lady while explaining Buhari’s colossal loss of popularity as the 2019 elections approach.”

Embattled Kogi-west Senator, Dino Melaye, has narrated how he was allegedly tied up and “hurled into a dark solitary confinement waiting for the butchers knife” during his arrest by security agents. Melaye was on Wednesday granted bail by a Kogi State High Court sitting in Lokoja.

Police in Anambra have arrested two suspected armed members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) at the Ekwueme Square in Anambra State, venue of the South East summit on restructuring. Security had been watertight at the venue and around the state capital, following threat by the IPOB to disrupt the event.

7. Rivers Doesn’t Need Presidential Solidarity Visit – Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has said his state is not faced with security challenges, adding that it does not need presidential solidarity visit. The governor, however, denied making comments suggesting that he was opposed to President Muhammadu Buhari visiting the state.

Leader of the new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), which teamed up with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2014, Kawu Baraje, has said that the group will remain in the ruling party. He made this known on Monday while speaking with newsmen after a closed-door meeting with the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

The Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) had boycotted a meeting with the Federal Government, five days ago, over the ongoing strike action by its members. In the five weeks the industrial action has lasted, the JOHESU and the Federal Ministry of Health have met six times but failed to reach a peaceful resolution on the trade disputes.
