1. PDP Describes APC As Nigeria’s Biggest Mistake

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is the stumbling block to the collective quest for national unity and economic prosperity of Nigerians. It added that the APC has demonstrated that it was never a political party designed for governance and development, but a contraption for oppression and vendetta. The Prty said this in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan.

2. EFCC Launches Probe Into Obasanjo’s $16b Power Projects

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has begun a probe into the $16 billion allegedly spent on power projects during the government of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Concise News gathered that the EFCC may invite two ex-ministers, former top officials of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), present and past officials of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company and the persons recommended for investigation by a committee of the House of Representatives.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has warned that the 2019 general election may not hold if killings and kidnapping persist. National Secretary of the party, Shehu Gabam, made the statement while addressing newsmen in Abuja on Friday. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, has ordered an investigation into the alleged assault and torture of an Ovwian Community leader, Citizen Freedom Odiete by soldiers of the 3 Battalion in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta state. Buratai’s order follows a petition and a fundamental rights suit instituted against one Capt. Kingsley Ukuwani, the Nigerian Army and others by a law firm, Oghenejabor Ikimi & Co.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has said that Nigeria is gradually sliding into a state of anarchy. Wike said this on Friday at the inauguration of the newly constructed Ekiti State Governor’s Office in Ado-Ekiti. According to him, the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government has not done well since they took over the country.

10. JOHESU Appeals Court Order, Insists On Strike

The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) has appealed an Order of Interim Injunction from the National Industrial Court (NIC), compelling it to immediately resume duties. Addressing an emergency news conference on behalf of the national body of JOHESU in Abuja on Saturday, Dr Godwin Okara, the Chairman, Assembly of Healthcare Professionals Association (AHPA), said the matter is now at the Court of Appeal.
