[News] Tanker Drivers In Rivers State Have Called Off Strike
Tanker drivers in Rivers State have called off their one week strike as the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) intervened in their disagreement with security agents.
Recall that the drivers had embarked on the strike last Wednesday over assault claims by some security agents in the state, leading to fuel scarcity.
According to the drivers, two of their trucks and products valued at N28m were burnt by policemen operating in Eleme Local Government Area.
"We have called off the strike. The NNPC has intervened this morning (Tuesday) and it decided to take it upon itself to pay us the money,” State Chairman of the PTD Lucky Etuokwu said.
“Since the NNPC has decided to take it upon itself; if we say we are not going back, the masses will be the one to bear the brunt.”
