Senate President Bukola Saraki says a call by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, to get him impeached is wishful thinking. The dismissed Director General of the Department of State Services Lawal Daura did not get approval from Acting President Yemi Osinbajo before the invasion of the National Assembly on Tuesday. Daura was sacked after the invasion with reports saying that he acted based on intelligence that some persons were trying to smuggle dangerous weapons and incriminating items into the National Assembly. Daura’s confession came in the interim investigation report submitted by the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris to Osinbajo.

Senate President Bukola Saraki has alleged plot by the presidency to implicate him and deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu in Tuesday’s blockade of the National Assembly by men of Department of State Services (DSS). In a joint statement signed by his media aide, Yusuph Olaniyonu and Uche Anichukwu, aide to Ekweremadu, the Senate President said the plot was to also implicate other PDP lawmakers. He said the presidency had constituted a panel to review Police report and submit a final recommendation, adding that information available to them indicated that there were attempts to implicate them.
