[News] Nigeria, Volkswagen Sign MoU For Vehicle Manufacturing

Nigeria and auto manufacturer Volkswagen has sealed a deal to make the company produce its vehicles in the West African nation.

This was part of the deal reached as the German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited Nigeria last week.

Trade and Investment Minister Okey Okechukwu Enelamah signed for Nigeria with CEO and Chairman of Volkswagen’s Africa operations Thomas Schaefer signed for the automobile firm.

The company has been working with the National Automotive Design and Development Council towards the company’s entry into Nigeria and the setting up of local production.

In July the National Automotive Design and Development Council and the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment had hosted Volkswagen and other global OEMs in Abuja.

Volkswagen had begun its vehicle production in Rwanda this year.
