1. Don’t Be Afraid Of Detention, Fayose Mocks Obasanjo

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti has said that former President Olusegun Obasanjo should stop raising false alarm on plot to arrest him and rather be ready to clear his name of any allegation levelled against him. Fayose, in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, on Saturday, said Obasanjo deserves whatever humiliation he was getting from President Muhammadu Buhari.

President Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed that the minister of Information and Culture disobeyed his directive not to reply a letter written by ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo. Buhari made this known when members of the Buhari Support Organisation visited him at the Presidential Villa, on Friday night. The president noted that the reply by the minister showed Nigerians the realities on ground when the present administration assumed office in 2015 and its ongoing efforts to revive the inherited damaged economy.

The Osun state government has declared Tuesday, June 12, as public holiday to mark democracy day in the state. Dr Obawale Adebisi, the Commissioner for Home Affairs, in a statement on Saturday in Osogbo, said the public holiday was in line with a policy of the state to observe June 12 as Democracy Day every year.

14. Ogun Govt Declares June 12 Public Holiday

Tuesday, June 12, 2018, has been declared as a work-free day to enable residents to celebrate the Democracy Day, the Ogun state government has said. The Secretary to the state government, Taiwo Adeoluwa disclosed this in a statement on Saturday. He noted that the day would also be used to celebrate the recent conferment of a posthumous national honour of GCFR on Moshood Abiola by President Muhammadu Buhari.
