1. Fayose Demands Additional Mattress In EFCC Detention

Embattled former governor of Ekiti state Ayodele Fayose has reportedly requested for additional mattress in order to be ”more comfortable” in the custody of the EFCC. It was gathered that Fayose made the request on Thursday while being interrogated about the N4.685 billion allegedly withdrawn from the Office of National Security Adviser (ONSA).

2. NHIS Boss, Usman Yusuf Suspended Indefinitely

The governing council of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has suspended the Executive Secretary of the scheme, Prof. Usman Yusuf indefinitely. Professor Yusuf was suspended by the board in order to pave way for an investigation into allegations levelled against him. Yusuf, who was expected to speak on his suspension, later made a u-turn as he called off a press conference he had earlier scheduled.

3. What Buhari, Service Chiefs Discussed In Meeting Ahead 2019 Elections

President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Security Council discussed ways to stop violence ahead of the 2019 elections in Nigeria. The meeting was held on Thursday in Abuja at the Presidential Villa with the service chiefs raising the alarm over the importation of arms into the country ahead of the elections.

4. PDP Rejects Disbandment Of Osun Governorship Election Tribunal

The Osun Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Osogbo has been disbanded.  Muhammed Adamu, the Secretary to the tribunal, confirmed the disbandment of the panel to reporters in Osogbo on Thursday. He, however, said that he was not aware of the reason for the action. The tribunal is sitting over the petition filed by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2018 Osun state election, Senator Ademola Adeleke, to challenge the victory of the the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gboyega Oyetola.

5. Disregard Audio Of Magu Speaking About Fayose Dying In Custody – EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed an audio clip of its Chairman, Ibrahim Magu saying nothing will happen if former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose dies in its custody. The former governor has been in custody of the anti-graft agency since he turned himself in on Tuesday.

6. Kano Assembly To Conduct Public Hearing Over Ganduje Bribery Video

The Kano State House of Assembly will conduct a public hearing over video clips allegedly showing Governor Abdullahi Ganduje collecting bribe. This was revealed on Thursday by the committee set up by the Assembly to investigate the alleged bribery video clips.

7. UN Contradicts NPC, Says Nigeria’s Population Now 195.9m

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has said that 76 per cent of Nigerians are between ages 0 to 24, as the country’s population hits 195.9 million. But the figure is not in consonance with those of the National Population Commission (NPC), which stated that Nigeria’s population was at 198 million as early as April 2018.

Blessing Onuh-Mark, a daughter of ex-Senate President David Mark, has defected from his father’s party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Blessing’s defection followed her loss of the party’s ticket for Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency. Concise News gathered that she refused to step aside for her uncle Johnson Ahubi Benue, who is the House of Assembly Deputy Speaker.

9. Lagos Assembly Directs PSP Operators To Resume Work, Disowns Visionscape

The Lagos State House of Assembly has called on local government executives in the state to call on the Private Sector Partnership operators in their areas to resume the collection of refuse. The state assembly also disowned Visionscape Sanitation Solutions Ltd which is currently doing the task of collecting refuse in the state.

The monarch made this known on his official Twitter handle on Thursday. In one of his posts, the revered traditional ruler said he “waited patiently upon the Almighty the King of kings, he eventually did it in the midst of many trials.

11. NFF Hail Eagles, Ighalo Over Libya Victory

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical and Development Committee Chairman Ahmed Fresh has hailed the Super Eagles over their wins against Libya. Nigeria beat the Mediterranean Knights 4-0 in a Group E 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday before securing a 3-2 win over the north Africans in the reverse fixture on Tuesday.
