1. FG Remains Committed To Securing Nigerians – SGF

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, has assured Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration remains committed to security of lives and property of the citizenry. The SGF, who represented the President at the graduation ceremony of the Course 26, National Defence College in Abuja, said this on Friday.

2. Former APC Spokesperson Abdullahi Drops FG Appointment

Immediate past National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has resigned his position as Chairman of the Nigeria Sugar Development Council (NSDC). Abdullahi, a former Minister of Sports, announced his resignation on Friday, two days after he resigned his position as the APC spokesperson and defected to to the Peoples Democratic Party.


3. TCN Recovers 693 Containers Of Power Equipment Abandoned At Ports For 15 Years

Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), on Friday, said that it has recovered more than 693 containers of power equipment abandoned at ports for about 15 years due to tariff. Managing Director (MD) of TCN Usman Mohammed made this known in a statement issued in Lagos.

4. Oshiomhole Reveals Real Reason Saraki, Others Left APC

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has described the defection of some party leaders as a manifestation of the anti-corruption campaign of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. He said this on Friday at the airport in Benin City, the Edo State capital, while reacting to the defection of Senate President Bukola Saraki, some lawmakers and two governors to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).


5. Again, PDP Raises Alarm Over Plot To Impeach Saraki

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of seeking an interim court order to declare vacant the seat of the President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki. PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said in a statement on Friday that the alleged plot was because of the defection of the Senate President from the ruling party to the opposition.

6. Mass Defection Of Lawmakers Illegal, Says Falana

Human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) has described the mass defection of lawmakers in the National Assembly as illegal. The Senior Advocate, who said on Thursday in Lagos, noted that defectors were supposed to lose their seats once they dump the party on which platform they were elected in the first place.


7. Melaye Alleges Police After His Life

Senator Dino Melaye has accused the Nigerian police of planning to kill him, calling on them to release his passport as ordered by a Magistrate’s Court in the Federal Capital Territory. Briefing journalists in Abuja on Friday, the lawmaker alleged that several attempts by him to retrieve his passport from the police based on the order of the court had failed.

8. Ekweremadu Did Not Fall Ill During EFCC Interrogation, Says Aide

Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, on Friday denied reports linking him with some hidden property. He also said he never fell ill during investigation with operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The anti-graft agency, according to sources, asked the senior lawmaker to account for how he came about over 60 assets. But he has described reports credited to the commission as mere propaganda and concocted falsehood.

9. Ladoja Confirms His Defection From PDP

A former Governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja, has announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Ladoja who barely rejoined the PDP from Accord Party a year ago said he was joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Addressing supporters at his residence in Bodija, Ibadan, the former governor recalled efforts by him to stabilize the PDP in the state and in the country and said those sacrifices went unrecognized.

10. Bin Laden’s Mother Reveals How He Became Terrorist

Osama bin Laden’s mother, Alia Ghanem, has revealed that the late al-Qaeda leader, her eldest son, was ‘brainwashed’ into extremist ideology. She made this known during an interview with The Guardian newspaper, United Kingdom. Ghanem, speaking at her family’s home in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, said bin Laden was a shy, academically capable boy. She said bin Laden turned into a strong, pious figure while an economics student in Jeddah in his early 20s.


11. Okagbare Leads Team Nigeria To 4x100m Gold

The team of Blessing Okagbare, Joy Udo-Gabriel, Tobi Amusan and Rosemary Chukwuma on Friday won gold in the women’s 4x100m at the ongoing 2018 African Senior Athletics Championships (ASAC) in Asaba. They finished with a time of 43.77 seconds. Cote d’Ivoire finished second with a time of 44.40 seconds, while Kenya settled for the bronze medal.
