1. Why Elections May Not Hold In 2019 – Ex-Gov. Bafarawa

Former Sokoto state governor Attahiru Bafarawa is unsure if Nigeria’s 2019 general election would take place based on the wanton killings in parts of Africa’s most populated nation. Also, in the reckoning of Bafarawa, the All Progressives Congress-led federal government is not organised enough to ensure successful elections.


2. Ekiti Will Reject Hunger, Hopelessness, PDP Replies Buhari

Campaign Organisation of Kolapo Olusola, the PDP candidate for the 2018 governorship election in Ekiti state, has taken a swipe at President Muhammadu Buhari for insinuating Ekiti has lost its values. The body was reacting to Buhari’s call on the South West caucus of the APC to carry out every legitimate step to win back Ekiti.

3. Court Orders Health Workers To Resume Work In 24 Hours

The National Industrial Court, Abuja, has ordered striking members of Joint Health Sector Unions to suspend their strike and resume work within 24 hours. Concise News learnt that Justice Babatunde Adejumo gave the order on Thursday after listening to the submissions of Okere Nnamdi in an ex-parte motion filed by a non-governmental organisation. It was gathered that the NGO, Incorporated Trustees of Kingdom Human Rights Foundation International, in the motion, prayed the court to mandate the workers to resume work and return to the negotiation table.


4. FG Files Amended Charges Against Dasuki

The Nigerian government on Thursday filed a 25-count amended charge against a embattled former National Security Adviser Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd). Part of the charge against Dasuki was that he allegedly misappropriated and engaged in a criminal breach of trust by purportedly transferring the sum of N3.5 billion into the account of Dalhatu Investment Limited, an offence punishable under section 315 of the Penal Code Act.

5. Policeman Allegedly Kills Soldier In Rivers

A policeman has allegedly killed an army personnel in Port Harcourt, resulting in the sacking of the Rumukpakani Police Station by a group of soldiers. Commissioner of police in the state Zaki Ahmed said the two security personnel were involved in an argument on Thursday morning which led to a scuffle. Angered by the incident, it was gathered that some soldiers stormed the area the Police Station and reportedly arrested the Divisional Police Officer and eight others.

6. NNPC, NPA, FIRS, Others Owing FG N526bn, $21bn

The National Economic Council (NEC) has revealed that 18 federal government’s agencies did not remit N526bn and $21bn into the Federation Account between 2010 and June 2015. The council made this known on Thursday after its meeting presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.


7. Imo APC Mocks Okorocha, Says Gov. Politically Irrelevant

It appears crisis in the Imo chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is far from ending as stakeholders on Thursday said Governor Rochas Okorocha was politically irrelevant. The group made this assertion after meeting with the APC national leadership in Abuja. Dr Theo Ekechi, who spoke on behalf of the stakeholders, said they had many evidence against Okorocha.



8. No fewer than four persons were Thursday killed in Maiduguri, Borno State after a suicide bomber hit an open-air mosque for refugees in the State. Report says suspected Boko Haram bomber, who disguised as a worshipper detonated his explosives at a camp for people displaced by the insurgency in Dikwa, a town 90 kilometres (55 miles) east of Maiduguri.

9. There was confusion along Ada George Road in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital, on Thursday morning, as soldiers took over the Rumukpakani Police station, reportedly in response to the killing of their colleague by a policeman. The report claims a group of angry soldiers stormed the police station and arrested the Divisional Police Officer, DPO.
The murdered soldier reported to be on mufti, was allegedly shot near the police station by one of the policemen on duty.


10. No fewer than three persons have been killed and several persons displaced after suspected herdsmen attacked another community in Benue State. The attack came barely 24 hours after Vice President Yemi Osinbajo left the state. Report says the latest attack occurred on Thursday in Ukemberagya community, Gaambe-Tiev Logo LGA of the State.
