1. President Buhari Reacts To Saraki’s Supreme Court Victory

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday said the country’s judicial system is truly working and no one should be allowed to undermine or break it, no matter the challenges it faces.The President’ Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in a statement in Abuja, said Buhari made the statement while reacting to Friday’s Supreme Court verdict on Senate President Bukola Saraki.

2. Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun In Forged Certificate Scandal

Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun skipped the mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps Certificate (NYSC) and had instead allegedly bagged a fake exemption certificate, according to reports. However, a recent investigation by Premium Times revealed that Adeosun has an NYSC exemption certificate issued due to her age in 2009. The minister was said to have graduated from the Polytechnic of East London in 1989 at 22 but did not take part in the mandatory scheme.

3. PDP Demands Adeosun’s Sack, Arraignment Over Alleged Certificate Forgery

The
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has charged President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately sack and arrest Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun, following allegation of forgery of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate. In a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday by Kola Ologbondiyan, its National Publicity Secretary, the party urged the the President not to provide a cover for Adeosun “in the character of his Presidency whenever close allies or agents are found wanting on issues of corruption.”

Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has commended the decision of Senator Dino Melaye to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Melaye in an Instagram video described PDP as his home and claiming that the APC treated him badly.

5. R-APC Reacts To Oshimohle’s ‘Mercenaries’ Statement

The spokesperson of the Reformed-All Progressives Congress (R-APC), Prince Kassim Afegbua, has dismissed claims by the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, that members of the R-APC are hired mercenaries. The R-APC spokesperson said they were genuine members of the party interested in retrieving the party from usurpers.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, has directed Commissioners of Police in state commands and their supervising Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to be on red alert. Force Spokesman, DCP Jimoh Moshood, who disclosed this in a statement in Abuja on Saturday, said that the directive was to enable all police formations to prevent crimes and criminalities in the country.

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, says President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is committed to the implementation of an improved National Minimum Wage for Nigerian workers. Oshiomhole expressed his resolve to use his position to influence government policies in a way that will benefit the Nigerian worker. He gave this assurance to a delegation of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) led by its President, Bobboi Kaigama, which paid a solidarity visit to the Party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.

A renowned cleric, Prophet Muyideen Kasali, on Friday shared his vision on the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti state. He also advised the Federal Government to put an end to the insurgency and incessant killings in some parts of the country before the 2019 presidential election. Kasali, who is the General Overseer of the Hour of Mercy Prayer Ministry Worldwide (Oke Alaseyori), spoke during the July edition of the monthly Hour of Mercy programme of the church in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina state on Saturday expressed disappointment that governors of the North West did not attend a security meeting of the sub-region held in Kaduna. Masari, who is the Chairman of the security committee inaugurated by the Northern Governors Forum, said the governors must separate politics from the issue of security that affects the generality of the people.

Ivan Rakitic scored the decisive spot-kick as Croatia beat hosts Russia 4-3 on penalties to book a World Cup semi-final date with England. After extra time ended with the score level at 2-2, goalkeeper Danijel Subasic was Croatia’s penalty hero, denying Fedor Smolov before Mario Fernandes fired wide.
